Cat Gatekeeper is a desktop app for people who lose too much time to X, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and other infinite feeds. Instead of relying on self-control, it puts a cat directly between you and the scroll.
How it works
- Choose the apps you want Cat Gatekeeper to watch.
- Set a time limit for each session.
- Only focused time counts. If you switch away, the timer pauses.
- When the limit is up, a full-screen cat overlay takes over the screen and starts a break.
- After a short mandatory pause — or when the timer finishes — you can tap “I'm back” and keep going.
Why we built it as a desktop app
Browser extensions only work in one browser. Cat Gatekeeper runs on macOS and Windows, so the break follows you across supported desktop apps and browser tabs.
Privacy first
No account is required. Your watched apps, timers, and usage stay on your device. The website only uses lightweight analytics and desktop update checks so we can improve downloads and reliability.
What we are improving next
